| 4Managing bundled products At the finishing end of the steel making process or in the steel merchant's yard or warehouse, bundled products can be most effectively handled with the aid of electromagnets. J&R Magnetics can supply purpose designed electromagnets to suit any bundled product application. |

configuration Image 2 (above) shows one of the magnet systems supplied to
One Steel's Rooty Hill mini-mill for lifting bundled products. Three
rows of five magnets each, extend both longitudinally and transversely.
One, two or three bundles can be selected either simultaneously or
separately. The horizontal spacing is adjustable to suit various bundle
diameters, and bundle lengths can vary from 6m to 15m.
4Structural Section Magnets can be designed to handle any structural section in any position. By providing the magnets with an additional set of 'drop-down' poles seen in image 3, the magnet can make contact with an otherwise inaccessible area. The moving poles can be activated or de-activated by means of a remote operator- controlled magnetic solenoid, or can be free floating. |

4Turning and lifting A system can be longitudinally hinged with articulated sub-beams to enable long heavy beam sections to be turned and lifted for stacking or transport. See turning sequence (images 4, 5 and 6 above). |
