SUNTEN employs modern casting and vacuum techniques minimising voids in the encapsulated coils, resulting in very low partial discharge values. The epoxy resin retains its flexibility at high temperatures so it can withstand sudden short circuit forces in both the longitudinal and radial directions. The resin also has a high electrical withstand strength ( approx 3.5 – 4 times that of air ) leading to high impulse voltage withstand ability. Maximum resin temperature (at top of the coil ) is 100 ° C

The Sunten low maintenance dry type encapsulated cast resin transformer is moisture and dirt resistant, does not contain oil, is environmentally friendly, meets the KEMA climate and heat impulse test –25°c ~ 175°c, can operate in adverse environments, long operational life, does not require bunding, does not require regular oil analysis or monitoring. Sunten manufacture over 8000MVA of cast resin transformers and 1500 MVA of reactors per year , plus 1000 pad mounted transformers.
